The Mugwort Chronicles, Part 1

I’m learning more and more about mugwort recently. Its antifungal properties, its ability to cleanse a space, spiritually… much of this coming from the native peoples of California. I have much to learn. We have a swath of these unified organisms in our backyard in Petaluma, California. At times we’ve felt like, is this plant a nuisance? Maybe this is a misguided and uninformed ponder? The other morning I spent some time with this this organism and a window of intrigue and beauty opened up for me. Mugwort doesn’t have flowers, it’s not showy, it seems somewhat uniform. But don’t be fooled. It is a dancer. It is an artist. I discovered this fact through time, observation, photography. End message: respect.
